Driving the Transition to Sustainable Cooling in Indonesia’s Building Sector
On 24 September, HEAT GmbH, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), hosted a capacity-building event on “Opportunities and Challenges in Energy Efficiency and the Transition to Natural Refrigerants” under the IKI Asian Low Carbon Building Transition Project (ALCBT).
The event brought together government, industry, and technical experts to exchange knowledge and advance solutions for a low-carbon future. Highlights included the launch of Aicool’s CAAS business scheme to accelerate hydrocarbon adoption in cooling, as well as the demonstration of HEAT’s Building Emission Assessment Tool (BEAT), which supports stakeholders in calculating operational carbon emissions from cooling appliances such as chillers and air conditioners, enabling data-driven decisions for decarbonizing the building sector.
From regulatory frameworks to innovative refrigerant technologies, the discussions underscored both the challenges and opportunities in making buildings part of Indonesia’s net-zero pathway.
A sincere thank you to the ministries, partners, and participants who joined us in this knowledge exchange. Together, we are building momentum for sustainable cooling and a climate-resilient future.
