COP30 in Belém: From Ambition to Implementation with People at the Centre

Hosted by Brazil in the Amazonian city of Belém, COP30 marked the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement. Framed as an “Implementation COP,” it delivered a “Belém Package” that advances the Agreement’s implementation—even if the overall mitigation outcome fell short of the ambition many had hoped for. HEAT GmbH participated in COP30 in its role as implementing office of the National Designated Entity (NDE) under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) for the technology negotiations.

Dietram Oppelt, Managing Director of HEAT GmbH, has been elected as Chair of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) during its Advisory Board Meeting in Copenhagen this April. This appointment recognizes Mr. Oppelt’s significant expertise and long-standing commitment to advancing climate technology solutions globally.

HEAT GmbH is actively participating in the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024. The conference focuses on critical issues such as setting new climate finance targets, operationalizing the Loss and Damage Fund, and enhancing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
