The aim of this project was to design the requirements for domestic heat pumps in such a way that their greenhouse gas emissions can be minimised by using fluorinated refrigerants in combination with energy-efficient operation of the appliances. This study forms the basis for the development of concrete criteria proposals for a Blue Angel for domestic heat pumps. For this purpose, the current market situation and the state of the art with regard to market penetration with natural refrigerants were examined. In addition, the report sheds light on other environmental impacts of heat pumps along their life cycle, which are related, for example, to the materials used and noise emissions.
